2014 Middle School Football Champions

Congratulations to this year’s middle school football champions the Havenview Tigers taking the Large Division title and the Bellevue Wildcats who secured the Small Division title. Both teams will go on to represent Memphis in the TMSAA Sectional Championship this Saturday. Congratulations to all participants of the SCIAA Football Championship!

 

TMSAA Large Middle School Sectional Championship will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Whitehaven Stadium. The game will kickoff at 1:30pm Havenview vs Haywood Middle School

TMSAA Small Middle School Football Sectional Championship will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Martin Middle School in Martin, TN. Martin will play host to the Memphis area undefeated champions Bellevue Middle School. Kickoff is at 12:30pm.

SCIAA Cross-Country Championship

The SCIAA Cross Country Championship was rescheduled for October 15th after being rained out on the 13th.  White Station took home the AAA Championship at Shelby Farms.  Foster Hudsmith finished in first place for the boys with his sister, Emilee Hudsmith finishing in first for the girls.

In the A/AA SCIAA Championship meet, Memphis Business Academy Boys took first place led by their top runner, Kobey Hill while Craigmont High School took first place led by their top runner, Josea Smith.

Good luck to all of our teams going off to compete in TSSAA District and Regional Tournaments.

2014 SCIAA Middle School Girls’ Soccer Championship

The fall season of SCIAA middle school sports are quickly coming to a close.  The SCIAA middle school girls soccer season closed Thursday with White Station Lady Spartans defeating Ridgeway Lady Roadrunners.  White Station scored an early goal but Ridgeway put up a great defensive effort only allowing them to score one more goal late in the first.  White Station led 2-0 going into the half.  White Station’s offense was just too much for the young Ridgeway team to hold off.  White Station added two more goals in the second half to take the win 4-0.

2014 HS Volleyball Championships

Congratulations to Mitchell High School in winning the 16A SCIAA Championship! After defeating Middle College in 3 sets the Tigers have remained unbeaten this year. They will look to continue their winning streak later this week as part of the district tournament. In the 16AA Championship, the Craigmont Chiefs became back to back champions as they defeated Douglass in 3 sets. In the final championship of the season White Station continued their streak as the AAA champions defeating SCIAA newcomer Germantown High School in a closely scored 3 set match. Congratulations to all of the champions and our MVPs!!

2014 Middle School Volleyball Championship

Congratulations on a great season to all the teams who competed for the SCIAA Championship. Memphis Metro was the host for the Small and Large division championships. Bellevue Middle coached by Chris Dease remained undefeated and defended their title as the Small Division champions. In the final, Bellevue faced off against Sherwood, also undefeated at the time. The Archers held on for three sets but eventually fell short in a close final set losing by just three points. In the Large division final, Kate Bond Middle coached by Debra Carpenter earned their first championship title after beating Colonial in three sets. Both runner-ups Sherwood and Colonial had a very successful season and played hard in the championship final pushing their opponents to a full three set match.

A special congratulations also goes out to game MVPs Melisa Carter of Kate Bond, Taiya Hill of Bellevue and all the players selected to the All Tournament Team.

2013 SCIAA Middle School Volleyball Championship

It was an exciting night at Memphis Metro JVC as the Havenview Tigers and Bellevue Bobcats took home the 2013 SCIAA Championship Titles.

In the large division, it took Havenview three grueling games to put away the White Station Spartans.  Havenview took the first game, White Station’s serving led them to victory in the second game while Havenview’s persistent defense brought home a victory in the third game.  Havenview’s MVP, Ishka Jackson led her #1 undefeated team over Cordova and Ridgeway to advance to the finals of the 2013 SCIAA Championship.  Congratulations to Coach Howell and the Havenview Tigers, the 2013 SCIAA Large Schools Champions.

In the small division, the Corry Eagles faced off with the Bellevue Bobcats.  Bellevue took the first game in extra points 27-25.  Corry struck back to take the second game of the set, but Bellevue trudged back led by MVP, Lauryn Carruthers, to take the third and final game and the Championship.  The Bellevue Bobcats defeated Westside and Lester to advance to the finals game.  Congratulations to Coach Dease and the Bellevue Bobcats, the 2013 SCIAA Small Schools Champion.

The Havenview Tigers and Bellevue Bobcats will continue their seasons next Tuesday, October 1st to represent Memphis in the West Tennessee Sectionals.

2013 Middle School Baseball and Softball Season Comes to a Close

Bats were ringing at Kennedy Park as the 2012-13 MIAA middle school baseball and softball season came to a close with the Finals of the City Championship on May 8th.

In small schools baseball, League Champions, Corry Middle School took the City Championship.  Lanier was awarded the City Championship Runner Up.  Mark Orr from Corry took home the MVP award for a great effort this season.

In small schools softball Riverview Middle School came out on top of Hamilton Middle School 20 to 10 to take the City Championship Plaque.    Riverview displayed a great team effort to capture the win.  Hamilton went home the City Championship Runner Up.

In the large division baseball, Bellevue Middle School jumped out on Ridgeway Middle School in the first inning and held on to take the win 9-2.  Bellevue was awarded the City Championship Plaque.  Ridgeway took home the Runner Up trophy to accompany their League Champion Plaque.  Ryan Mabry was awarded the MVP award for Bellevue.

In the large division softball, League Champions, Cordova Middle School fought off a valiant effort by the Hickory Ridge Middle School team to take the win 8-6 and the City Championship.  Cordova was led by their pitcher, Kaitlyn Corral who took home the MVP award.  Hickory Ridge earned the City Championship Runner Up.

2012-2013 High School Softball City Championship

MIAA High School Baseball Takes Over Auto Zone Park

The Memphis Interscholastic Athletic Association hosted the High School Baseball City Championship at Auto Zone Park.  On April 25th, hundreds of students, parents and administrators filled the  ballpark to enjoy the action packed match ups.This was the first year that the MIAA collaborated with the Memphis Redbirds and Auto Zone Park to host this successful and exciting event.Congratulations to all the teams that played and special congratulations to the City Championship winners: Booker T. Washington High School, Fairley High School and Central High School.

2012 Football Championships Wrap Up

MIAA City Championships

On Saturday, October 20, 2012, Lanier Middle School defeated Lester Middle School by the score of 34-20 in the Small Division City Championship at Crump Stadium to claim the title of MIAA 2012 Small Division City Champions, with a record of 12-0. The Most Outstanding Player of the Game was #4 Devin Martin of Lanier Middle School.

Colonial Middle School defeated Ridgeway Middle School 21-6 to claim the Large Division City Championship with a record of 11-0, on Monday, October 22, 2012. This game was a repeat of the regular season game with Colonial emerging from half-time to explode for 14 second half points to claim the 2012 MIAA Large Division City Championship. Clifton Barnes #4, Wide Receiver/Cornerback, of Colonial Middle School was selected as the Outstanding Player of the game.

In High School action, Whitehaven High defeated East High 31-6 to claim the 2012 MIAA Junior Varsity Football City Championship. The Most Outstanding Player of the game was Derwin Martin.

The MIAA would like to congratulate each team for having a great season.

TSSAA/TMSAA Sectional Championships

Colonial Middle went on to defeat Brighton Middle School 18-16 in the West Tennessee Large Division Sectional Championship at Halle Stadium, on October 27, 2012…

Lanier Middle travel to Union City, Tennessee, on October 27, 2012, and defeated Union City Middle School 56-14 to claim the Small Division West Tennessee Sectional Championship.

Whitehaven High defeated Haywood to win the TSSAA Freshman Football Sectional Championship 22-20. The Most Outstanding Player was Kerrick Jones.
