2015 SCIAA High School Volleyball Champions

Volleyball Championship

Last evening Memphis Metro was the venue for three exciting matches between the best volleyball teams in the SCIAA. The Division A game was sure to be a great one as it featured 2 teams that came in tied at #1. Carver (11-1) beat Soulsville (11-1) early in the season winning 3-2 and last night they battled back and forth playing 5 sets again. Carver won the 1st and 4th set 25-15 and 25-19. Soulsville secured their first ever championship by winning the 2nd, 3rd and final matches 25-22, 25-13 and 15-12. The MVP of the game was LaTerrica Davis. Congratulations to Coach Barnard and her team on becoming SCIAA Champions.

In the Division AA match-up Craimont (10-0) took on Manassas (8-2) winning the first match 25-20. Manassas returned the favor in the second set 25 to Craimont’s 19. The Chiefs went on to take the 3rd set 25-15 forcing a 4th set and winning 25-14 to repeat as the Division AA SCIAA Champions. Congratulations to Coach Anderson and Daja Scurlock who earned the MVP award 2 years straight.

The final match-up of the night was another good one with White Station and Germantown fighting for the AAA Division Championship. These two teams also met earlier this year with Germantown taking the win. There were a lot of great rallies from both sides in the heated 4 set match. The Spartans took the first set 25-19 and the Red Devils responded with a 25-21 win in the second set. The third set was a nail biter with the Spartans coming out on top 26-24 and they ended the match scoring 25-21 in the final set. Abigail Duncan was the MVP of the night earning that honor for the second year in a row. Congratulations to Coach Blankenbiller and Coach Thomas on a great game.

All of the participants were great and showed good sportsmanship. Special mention to Manassas, Carver, Germantown and Mitchell for a great season. The SCIAA wishes everyone success in their post season tournaments.
