43rd Annual Martin Luther King Invitational

Coach Newman and Memphis Coaches present the 43rd Annual Martin Luther King Invitational Tournament.  Middle school teams begin Saturday, November 23rd and the high school teams begin Monday, November 25th with the finals to be held at Melrose High School on Saturday, November 30th.

Houston High School 2013 TSSAA AAA Girls Soccer State Champions

Congratulations to Houston High School Girls Soccer team for winning the AAA State Championship. On their road to the title game Houston defeated Ravenwood 3-1, and blanked Franklin 3-0. Houston continued their dominance by posting a shutout in the title game 5-0 as they took down Oakland for the championship. Houston’s win was helped largely in part by Gabby Little whose stats totaled 4 goals in those 3 games, with 2 of them scored in the championship. Kelsey Pearce, Robyn Penella, and Paola Ellis were also key players in Houston’s victorius run to the AAA Championship.

Whitehaven Freshman Football West TN Sectional Champions

Congratulations  to the Whitehaven Freshman Football team for winning the TSSAA West TN Sectional Freshman Football Championship. The TIgers went 6-1 for the season, defeating  Covington by a score of 30 to 6 on October 16th, 2013 at  Covington in the championship game . The MVPs of the game were  Kylan Watkins on Offense and Jaylen Williams on Defense.

1st Annual Fall Athletic Banquet of Champions Banquet presented by Well Child

 

The Shelby County Interscholastic Athletic Association (SCIAA) presents the 1st Annual Fall Athletic Banquet of Champions on Friday, December 20, 2013, 6pm.

 The Peabody Hotel

 Main Hall

 149 Union Avenue

 Memphis, TN

This is an awards recognition banquet for all SCS City, Sectional and State Championship Teams as well as Top Academic Student-Athletes from each school. Marshall Faulk, NFL Hall of Famer, will be the keynote speaker.  An autograph session will be available. Sponsorship packages and individual tickets are available for purchase.
