MIAA 2011-2012 Bowling Season Recap

The 2011-2012 MIAA Bowling Season proved to be a huge success. The season began with many teams vying for the top position within their respected districts. As the season progressed there were only eight teams selected in this years MIAA Bowling City Championship and seven selected in the Girls Bowling City Championships.  The teams were selected based on their standings within their respected districts. The teams that advanced in the bowling division were: Overton, White Station, Manassas, Trezevant, Middle College, Westwood, Mitchell, and Ridgeway.  The teams that advanced in the girls division were: White Station, Overton, Middle College, Ridgeway, Douglass, Frayser, and Central

The teams that proved to be successful in the City Championships are no strangers to the spotlight. Overton and White Station were poised and ready to face off in both the bowling championship and the girls bowling championship. The field was laced with talent as both teams jockeyed for top position on Thursday, December 8, 2011.

As the day progressed Overton High School’s bowling team showed to be the better talent on the lanes by beating White Station 17.5 to 9.5. On the girl’s bowling side, White Station High School demonstrated their talents by defeating Overton 17 to 6.

Both Overton (bowling division) and White Station (girls bowling division) proved to be formidable champions.

This year’s Male and Female Outstanding Bowlers showed their dominance on the lanes by boasting averages of over 200.  Chelsie Cleaves, with an average of 207, was the Female Outstanding Bowler of the Year. Chelsie is a freshman at White Station High School. Anthony Richmond, with an average of 215, was the Male Outstanding Bowler of the Year. Anthony is a senior at Overton High School.

These athletes are amazing ambassadors of the game and have exciting futures in the sport.

The MIAA would like to thank all of the proprietors of the area bowling alleys for being such wonderful hosts and allowing our athletes your time and energy. This season was a success because of your sacrifice.
