The 2016 SCIAA swim season wrapped up yesterday afternoon at the Hickory Hill Community Center. It featured some great competition and set 17 new meet records. The team honors went to Germantown Girls and White Station Boys. The MVPs of the meet were both from Central High School and previous champions. They are Ms. Mary Thomas with 109 total points and Mr. Grayson Word who edged out his teammate Sam Warren by 2 points with a total of 137 points. There were many individual winners representing a number of schools. Official results from the meet can be viewed here. Congratulations to all of the participants, coaches, monitors and the meet director for making this event a success!

Its Middle School Basketball Championship time and we have some of the best teams in the district participating this year. The teams are set and ready to play some of the best basketball of the year. All of the teams in the district have one common goal and that is to become the 2016 SCIAA Middle School Champion. There are some good girls and boys teams that didn’t make it but there are some awesome teams that did. Some of the boys’ teams include Kingsbury, White Station, Bellevue, A. Maceo Walker, Highland Oaks, Bellevue, Sherwood, Cordova, American Way, Cummings, Mt. Pisgah, and Germantown. The girls include Chickasaw, Sherwood, Cordova, Southern Avenue, Colonial, Highland Oaks, Barret’s Chapel, Kate Bond, and Hickory Ridge. The playoff brackets are up and the first games start January 14, 2016. The games on Saturday, January 16th will be at the following locations: Bellevue, A. Maceo Walker, and Barret’s Chapel for the Small Schools side, and for the Large School side the location will be Cordova Middle, American Way, and Hickory Ridge. On January 21st all games from then on will be played at the SCIAA Complex. The SCIAA Complex is located at 2601 Ketchum and will feature the Area Champions battling out against each other on the 21st and 23rd. On Monday, January 25th we will have the Large School Champion against the Small School Champion for bragging rights to determine who is the best in the district. This year’s playoffs will be the best we’ve had in years so don’t miss it! Click on the brackets below for more information

The High School Basketball Championship will be held on February 13th. A, AA and AAA teams will battle it out at Southwind High School. Games will begin at 11am. In support of this event, The SCIAA is hitting the road on a promotional tour providing fan contests and prizes with SCS Radio/TV 88.5/C19 & Creative Designz to launch “the Road to the Championship” Campaign.
The official road tour will include the following games:
- JANUARY 8 CENTRAL AT OVERTON
- JANUARY 15 MELROSE AT EAST
- JANUARY 22 WHITEHAVEN AT WHITE STATION
- JANUARY 29 SOUTHWIND AT GERMANTOWN
- FEBRUARY 5 CRAIGMONT AT DOUGLASS
