September is MIAA Rivalry Month-The First Week

Middle School “Rivalry Week” got off to an exciting start with Ridgeway Middle scoring a victory over Wooddale Middle and remaining undefeated in Large Area 2. The game was scoreless for three quarters until Ridgeway exploded for three (3) fourth quarter scores to secure the victory 16-6. The most valuable players from Ridgeway and Wooddale were Tyrique Sandusky, Ridgeway (Defense) and Tim Taylor (Offense) Wooddale. Also, the following students from Wooddale Middle School were recognized for their academic excellence:  Mr. Nicholas Jackson – Top Extra-Curricular Student, Mr. Austin Jackson – Top Scholar Student-Athlete, and Ms. Keionne Nash – Top Academic Student at the school.
Game two featured A. Maceo Walker Middle School vs American Way Middle School. This game was dominated by American Way as A. Maceo Walker is undergoing a rebuilding year. The final score was American Way 38-0.  MVP’s of the game were:  Markeem Johnson (Defense), A. Maeco Walker and Myrone Kimber, (Defense) American Way.
Game three was a battle between Havenview Middle School and Colonial Middle School with Colonial securing a 26-6 victory in a workman-like fashion. Colonial was led by running back- Quinton Jamison. The Most Valuable Players of the game from Colonial and Havenview were, Jadarious Mister (Defense) Colonial and Terrance Maples (offense) Havenview. Mr. Timothy Taylor from Haven view Middle was named Top Extra Curricular Student, Mr. Jerry Crane, with a 3.7 GPA, was named Top Student-Athlete and Ms. Danisha Davis was named Top Scholar Student-Athlete.
The final game of the evening featured Kirby Middle School vs Hickory Ridge in the battle of “Hickory Hills”. The teams have a traveling trophy that was awarded to Hickory Ridge, who won a hard fought battle 18-6. Hickory Ridge’s Band treated the crowd to a rousing performance at half-time and the cheerleaders performed the “Wobble” for all in attendance. The MVP of the game came from Hickory Ridge- Zacharias Harris. Also, the MIAA presented awards to the Top Extra- Curricular Student to Ms. Khadijia Small, Top Scholar Student-Athlete to Ms. Bionka Massie and the Top Academic Student to Ms. Destini Gray.
