The SCIAA Cross Country Championship was held on Thursday, October 18th at Shelby Farms Park. Both the Small and Large School Divisions ran their 7 best athletes in hopes to win the Team Championship. In the Large School Girl’s Division, the White Station Spartans were crowned the Champions with the Whitehaven Tigers close behind as the Runner-Up. In the Large School Boy’s Division, the teams were swapped and the Whitehaven Tigers took home the Championship, with the White Station boys team earning the runner-up award. In the Small School Division, the girl’s raced first and the reigning champs of Middle College, once again took home the Championship with Mitchell High school as the runner-up. In the boy’s division, it was a close race, but City University came out on top as the Champions, with Mitchell taking home the runner-up award. The top 3 individuals in each race were awarded medals. Large Girls: 1st Kathryn Hayes, White Station, 2nd Kaitlyn Thomas, White Station, 3rd Mariam Magassouba, Whitehaven. Large Boys: 1st Andrew Cullins, Whitehaven, 2nd Andre Brown, Whitehaven, 3rd Charles Huebner, White Station. Small Girls: 1st Tashon Bryson, Mitchell, 2nd Miata Borders, Mitchell, 3rd Madison Williams, Middle College. Small Boys: 1st Parker Russ, Crosstown, 2nd Adonis Holloway, MLK Prep, 3rd Omar Smith, City University.
All teams were eligible to compete in Regionals this week in hopes to make it to the State Cross Country Meet on November 3rd. Good Luck!
