The regular season high school soccer championship was closed out last night with a pair of rematches between the Sheffield Knights and Raleigh Egypt Pharoahs in the A-AA division and the Kingsbury Falcons and Overton Wolverines in the AAA division. During the season Sheffield won 2-1 and they again defeated the Pharoahs scoring 5 of their 7 goals in the first half. Raleigh Egypt fought back and looked better starting the second half scoring 2 goals, but it just wasn’t enough to stop the attacks from Sheffield’s forwards who won another consecutive championship 7-2. The MVP for Sheffield was Jose Quintanilla.
In the final match of the night Overton and Kingsbury who tied during their first meeting of the season 1-1 were both off to a slow start. The Falcons had a couple good looks and shots on goal but could not make it past the Overton keeper ending the first half scoreless. The second half action picked up slightly as Kingsbury managed to get one by Overton off a corner kick. Neither team seemed to be playing their best but in scoring the lone goal Sabir Alshoja became the hero of the game and MVP as Kingsbury brought home another title for Coach Jihad Haidar.
